Time left to horizon
— hoursMemento temporis
Your life is finite.
Make the trajectory legible.
Count the time. Freeze the life you are trying to inhabit. Rehearse it nightly, translate imagery into behavior, log what actually changes, and use a weekly AI interview to keep the route—and the metaphysical experiment—honest.
Lifespan map
How life tends to change
A compact map of robust patterns—not a horoscope for age.
Hindsight corpus
What tends to become valuable later
Repeated themes from older adults looking back, separated from scientific claims. Anecdotal evidence can reveal recurring regret patterns, not universal laws.
The synthesis
Compound what compounds. Do not indefinitely postpone what expires.
Compounding assets
Health habits, savings, useful skills, reputation, language, deep friendships, practical competence and a body capable of carrying you.
Closing windows
Time with parents, physically demanding adventures, easy experimentation, certain forms of travel, fertility if desired, and years of high physical recovery capacity.
Direction, not fantasy
Age 27 → 35
A staged plan for arriving at 35 with maximum autonomy: financially viable, physically capable, locally integrated and practically competent.
Target state
A place and way of life you do not want to escape from.
By 35: enough recurring income and invested capital to choose where to live; a strong, mobile body; deep familiarity with India and useful Hindi; practical competence with land, food and animals; a local social fabric; and enough freedom that partnership or children can be chosen because they add to the life—not because they are required to give it structure.
Avoidable traps
The Life90 experiment
Make the thesis live.
One participant. One deliberately specified life. Nightly practice, daily behavior, weekly AI interrogation, objective outcomes, and competing explanations tracked together.
Research contract
The target is fixed. The interpretation is not.
The strong hypothesis is allowed to be strong: consciousness may participate creatively in the trajectory of lived reality. But the record must remain harder to fool than the belief. Every apparent hit is logged beside action-mediated, attentional, social, chance and criterion-shift explanations.
Primary final criterionAt the target age, did the frozen life-state materially occur: YES or NO, scored against the original specification? Differences are described separately rather than converted into a third outcome.
Near-term criterionDoes the practice produce measurable improvements in behavior, future-self continuity, wellbeing, opportunity detection and objective movement?
Recognition checkpointLocalization may remain while the felt status of separation changes. A positive phenomenological result does not by itself prove a universal token subject or nonlocal causation.
Frozen target specification
What exactly counts as success?
Write the target in ordinary, externally scorable terms. Freeze it before accumulating years of evidence. If the target genuinely changes, create a new version rather than rewriting history.
Nightly protocol
Recognition → scene → reality.
The practice combines your Aperture / Process Inexternalism lens with methods drawn from future-self simulation, mental contrasting, Monroe-style patterning, active imagination and esoteric visualization. It ends in observable behavior, not wishful absorption.
Tonight's aperture
An ordinary morning.
Daily rule of life
Make alignment boring enough to repeat.
This is the daily causal spine of the experiment. A manifestation theory that consistently produces less competent action fails an important practical test.
Traditional lens: Pātañjala brahmacarya is a restraint associated in commentarial traditions with vīrya; some Daoist cultivation systems discuss conserving/refining jing. Evidence lens: modern research does not establish a general mystical-energy or performance benefit from semen retention. Here it is an optional attention/self-regulation experiment, not a health requirement.

Weekly process
Let the AI interrogate the week.
The interviewer sees the stored experiment record, asks one question at a time, challenges rationalization, then emits a structured weekly synthesis.
Objective ledger
What moved in the world?
Enter counts, not vibes. These become part of the AI's research context.
AI connection
Bring your own model.
Direct browser calls work only when the API endpoint permits CORS. Keys are kept in session storage by default. “Remember” stores the key in this browser's local storage; do not use that on a shared device. Exports always exclude API keys.

Longitudinal record
Weekly syntheses
The point is not to get the AI to agree with the theory. It is to preserve the changing relationship between practice, state, behavior and outcomes.
Research layer
Three levels of claim.
Never let a behavioral effect silently become evidence for a metaphysical one.
Practice changes the participant.
Future-self simulation, implementation intentions, sleep, focused work, physical training and repeated attention can change behavior and subjective state through ordinary mechanisms.
Inner and outer are aspects of one process.
The aperture is not a Cartesian spectator manipulating a separate world. A change in intrinsic organization and a change in extrinsic trajectory are descriptions of an evolving concrete process under different access conditions.
Intention participates beyond mediation.
The experiment leaves open the stronger claim that sustained intentional configuration selects or participates in external outcomes beyond identifiable behavioral, social and attentional pathways. Only prospective evidence can move this layer.
Anti-self-deception protocol
What would make the strong claim less credible?
No objective movementVividness rises but bridge completion and real-world metrics do not.
All “hits” are post-hocInteresting events appear only after flexible reinterpretation; prospective predictions do not outperform expectation.
Mediation explains the pathOpportunities trace cleanly to changed search, networking, applications, skill or behavior.
Function deterioratesSleep, work, relationships or judgement worsen while metaphysical conviction rises.
Prospective test
Freeze it before reality answers.
Use this sparingly. Specify the event, deadline, criterion, estimated base rate and whether direct behavioral mediation is allowed.
Phenomenology / events
Log first. Explain later.
Synchronicities, dreams, opportunities and unusual states become more useful when the descriptive record is separate from the explanatory story.
Method atlas
Borrow methods without collapsing ontologies.
Each source is represented as: what it claims, what practice Life90 derives from it, and what evidential status that claim has. The traditions are allowed to disagree.
Portability
Your life record should belong to you.
Everything is stored locally in your browser. Export a JSON snapshot regularly. API credentials are intentionally excluded. Imports restore Life90 local data on another browser.
Scientific reality check
What is solid, and what is overstated
There is no single cognitive “peak age.”
Different abilities follow different trajectories. Processing speed, working memory, vocabulary and accumulated knowledge do not all peak together.
Personality keeps changing after 25.
Longitudinal meta-analyses find continued average shifts toward greater emotional stability and other maturity-related traits across adulthood, with large individual differences.
Strength is a reserve you can build.
Muscle mass and strength commonly peak around the early 30s, then tend to decline with age. Resistance training can preserve and improve function well into later life.
Stretching is useful, but not magic.
Stretching reliably improves range of motion. Evidence is much less clear that flexibility work by itself prevents injury or produces broad health benefits. Strength through usable ranges matters too.
Older does not simply mean unhappier.
Many studies find better emotional regulation and greater focus on meaningful relationships with age. Findings on a universal “midlife crisis” or U-shaped happiness curve are mixed across methods and populations.
“The brain finishes developing at 25” is too crude.
Large datasets show many executive functions reaching adult-level performance in late adolescence, while brain structure, connectivity, learning and behavior remain plastic across adulthood.
